If you have browsed a lot of Internet sites, you have probably stumbled upon some error message from time to time. An error can occur in case the website hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in so as to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you aren't allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which isn't on the website hosting server (Error 404). Receiving this kind of messages can sometimes be aggravating as the pages have nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some web hosting companies permit you to apply your own error pages that'll match the layout of your own website and which could have any content which you want - details why the error has appeared, a suggestion how to handle it or even some humorous comment. Such a feature will help you keep the visitor on the site irrespective of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

You will be able to set up personalized error pages for any of your websites easily when you use any of our cloud hosting. This could be done through the Hosted Domains part of the Hepsia CP, offered with all accounts and when you go there, you'll be able to set your custom pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You have to upload the files to your account ahead of time and input the links to them through the process. This function could be de-activated at any time and the options you will be able to pick from are a generic page from our system or a default Apache server page. Custom made error pages can be set with an .htaccess file too. The file should be put in the domain or subdomain folder and it must include some system code and links to the pages. If you are not tech-savvy, you could copy the entire content required for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All semi-dedicated servers that we supply support tailor-made error pages and it shall not take more than several mouse clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files through basic drop-down menus and a user-friendly interface. Keep in mind, you need to upload them in your account before that. If you do not need to use this function at some point, you can disable it just as quickly and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable whenever your visitors encounter an error. If you'd like to, you could also use an .htaccess file to permit the personalized error pages. The file needs to have a particular line of code and a link for every single error type and you can find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
